Solid shelves to indulge your kitty’s climbing instincts!
My adult daughter and I have been rescuing cats for over thirty years. When we bought our house, we commissioned the construction of a catio, screening in an existing breezeway with claw-proof screen so our cats can enjoy some time outdoors but free from the risk of predators, cars and other threats.There was one feature I have always wanted to add to their space but which eluded me until now: wall shelves so that they can satisfy their primal urge to climb! They have long enjoyed using the ones at the vet’s office, but I have seen other cats at cat cafes really make use of them in a more relaxed setting than at a doctor’s appointment and wanted to replicate that for my pets at home.Accordingly, I was so thrilled to come across this handsome set of shelves!These shelves appear incredibly well-made. The shelf part is made from solid wood and you get two different types of shelf in this kit. The three smaller steps measure 8″x7″ in size, plus there is a luxurious cat bed which is 17″x12″ and features a guardrail so your kitty can lounge with added safety as they survey their domain. The steps are built upon a wooden base with two screws underneath each shelf and the bed portion comes with sturdy metal brackets for additional support.The coloring is very neutral with a pleasant, Scandinavian-style look that will integrate with most decor. Each step includes a sisal pad to indulge their claws and which attaches to the step with two strips of hook and loop material, which means the pads can be removed and replaced for easy cleaning. The soft cushion that lines the cat bed attaches the same way.The set comes with very clear instructions that even detail how to use the shelves across a variety of wall types (concrete, drywall, brick, etc.), along the hardware needed for most types of installation. The shelves come pre-drilled with all the holes carefully engineered in all the right places for assembly.Overall, I’m pretty blown away with the quality of this set of shelves, especially at this price point. I liked them so much that I ordered a second variation from the same manufacturer.
