Worth Every Penny
I love it, more importantly my cats love it. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. This will be a 3 part review on the quality, assembly and customer service. All of which were awesome. To preface I have 3 outdoor only cats (2 males 1 female) in northern Illinois, winters can be brutal for several weeks at a time with sub zero temps and this structure is proving it’s worth as we speak (now January 16,2025). I have outfitted their shelter with thermometers and outdoor pressure sensor heating pad, the cord fits nicely between the lower floor board with no cutting or notching required. The cats are thriving.-QualityI was skeptical when selecting a structure that could hold up to harsh cold climates but this is holding up very well so far in light rain, heavy rain, snow and wind. Purchased in early November 2024 It has experienced literally every bit of inclement weather since I purchased it except hail. Not a scratch and looks like it can go the long haul distance. While the wood material isn’t very thick at all the type of wood does offer outdoor protection against water with a natural exterior stain. The structure as a whole is sturdy and not super heavy if it needs to be relocated. The floor and roof panels are sturdy and thick, the door/plank isn’t super necessary but the cats sometimes use it. Hydraulic roof keeps water and weather out, opening it spooks my cats but that’s not a problem just a heads up. Although the wood panels are thin it is slatted real wood panel and the framing is all tongue and groove for maximum strength. For the cost of this unit I think BIOPAWS definitely had the animals and human purchasers in mind.-AssemblyAssembly was easy. They provided a multi driver tool and simple to follow directions. Easier than IKEA. The roofing material does fleck off a bit so I would recommend building this in a garage or somewhere the little particles don’t go everywhere in a carpet or rug, but they’re easy to clean up regardless. If you have access to a real screw driver this is a breeze to assemble, the small tool works fine but it does take a little muscle to get the long screws fastened. It has pre drilled holes for everything. I removed the side window plexiglass for my 3 cats to enter and exit more easily. This required a finer #1 size Philips bit or screw driver. Same for the plastic flap door if you want to remove that. I put this unit together in about 20 mins from unboxing it to walking it from my garage to back deck.-Customer ServiceBIOPAWS, wow, amazing. Couldn’t be happier with the help they offered. I’m over the moon with them and would recommend this to anyone who needs an outdoor shelter for their animals. My shelter shipped and was received in a super fast manor, got it a day before expected. Packaged well and all the pieces were there. I did have an issue where the carton was punctured by something else in the shipping truck which in turn damaged 3 of the 6 pieces (roof, floor, back wall). Normally I wouldn’t care but it did pierce through the wood of all 3 exposing the styrofoam insulation between the wood so it might’ve been an issue for water or moisture. I contacted biopaws and asked if they could send replacement panels or if I had to send the whole unit back and wait. They sent me an entirely new unit express mailed which was above and beyond. I am so grateful and my cats are so thankful. Their staff was courteous and acted without hesitation and were very quick to respond. Thank you BIOPAWS.

Study, spacious, shelter
Works great! Nice and sturdy and easy to put together. Our community cats enjoy the warmth and shelter. I did purchase a heating pad to put in it.

Great starting point, needs adjustments for cold weather
I bought this for a stray cat who seems to have been living under an abandoned house nearby, so he’d have a warm, safe shelter. I assembled it myself and almost immediately was able to coax him inside—he seems to love it! A few notes on my experience so far:Setup was fairly straightforward, although it was tricky to get all 4 walls to screw in snugly without gaps. Definitely follow the rule of thumb to not tighten screws all the way until everything is in place and lined up correctly; it likely will still take some trial & error to get everything tight. Also, the screws provided are quite long; this presumably makes it sturdier, although I found it hard to get them all the way in. On a positive note, they were good quality and did not strip when I was struggling to tighten them.NOTE: A screwdriver is included that can be converted to Philips head (which you’ll need), but arrives as flat head—I did not see that it was adjustable until the end of the assembly manual, when it was too late, so used my own. I followed others’ suggestions and removed the side window to provide a secondary exit, which was easy but required an extra small Philips screwdriver. There are visible gaps at the short ends of the floor, even with all 4 walls tightly screwed together. There is also no insulation on the floor. Since it’s summer now, I have time to fix this, but it would not be suitable for winter as-is.I tried it out with the center divider in place at first, but my skittish stray kitty, who is only about 7 lbs, seemed a little intimidated so I removed it once he was outside. He went back in and seemed to like it much more without the divider.Overall, it seems like an excellent starting point for a cozy shelter, with additional insulation needed DEFINITELY in the floor and most likely around the sides, for cold winter climates. And the side window definitely should be converted into an escape door, which will need some vinyl (?) flaps like the entrance to keep wind out. Use straw (not hay or blankets) to keep your animals warm and dry. Overall very nice looking, sturdy, and kitty loves it.
