My dog loves it
Got this for Leo my goldendoodle about three weeks ago and he was immediately obsessed with the angry octopus face. The bright colors and goofy expression really do grab his attention, he carried it around the house for the first few days like a prized possession. The crinkle paper inside makes a satisfying sound that gets him excited every time he bites down. The no-stuffing design is a huge plus – with his previous toys I was constantly picking up fluff everywhere, this one stays mess-free even after heavy chewing. The textured fabric feels durable and the tentacles are great for tug-of-war games. At 13.5 inches it’s a good size for him to shake around and carry. Now the squeaker only lasted about a week before it stopped working. Leo chews pretty aggressively and managed to flatten it somehow even though the toy itself is still intact. The stitching has held up well with no tears or loose threads yet which is impressive. One tentacle is getting a bit worn at the tip but nothing major. The toy is easy to wipe clean when it gets slobbery. For the price it’s been a decent value considering how much use it’s gotten. If your dog is a heavy chewer just expect the squeaker might not last long, but the crinkle and overall durability have been solid.

Octopus Dog Toy
For size reference, my dog is a 10-pound Maltese mix. She is an avid chewer but does not have significant jaw strength due to her size. This toy is a suitable size for her and lightweight enough that she is able to comfortably fetch and carry it around in her mouth easily. The texture of the fabric also adds additional grip for her to hold on to while still being soft on her gums. The squeakers inside the toy keep my dog engaged and excited during use. She also enjoys playing tug of war with its legs, which have surprising strength and have not yet torn.However, the toy feels more like a tough plush toy without the filling. I appreciate that it does not have stuffing inside, so it won’t cause a mess if and when she manages to puncture through the material, but I do not see it lasting very long, especially with her constant chewing and tugging. I think it will have a longer lifespan with her because she is small, but I don’t expect it would hold up as well for a larger dog with stronger jaws. The seams in particular seem to be the weak points, which she has a habit of targeting. This is to be expected of any dog toy with this style of fabric and design, though, so I am not disappointed.Overall, this toy met my expectations. It has provided my dog with entertainment, is compact enough for her to easily carry around, and its unique shape has helped to keep her engaged.

Dog Toys for Aggressive Chewers
It is the squeak that is the most prominent hook in our home. When he bites down on it, it serves as an immediate payout, which helps him maintain his interest in the toy rather than dumping it and going on to something else. I will offer him the toy in the evenings when I need him to calm down while I do my duties, and he will park himself nearby and work on it. Simply reducing the amount of time he spends pacing and looking for shoes, socks, or other random items that he should not be collecting is significant enough to be considered a victory. The interactive play capabilities of this toy are where it truly shines. I make use of it for tug games during shorter sessions, particularly when he comes in with a large amount of enthusiasm. Not only does it provide us with an organized means to release some steam, but it also prevents gameplay from becoming chaotic. There are additional straightforward regular indications that may be used, such as “bring it back,” “drop it,” and “wait.” Due to the fact that he is really interested in the item, he maintains his motivation, which in turn makes those few sessions seem less like a negotiation and more like a smoother experience. I put my dog’s toys through a series of tests by having him repeatedly chew on the same location, shaking them from side to side, and attempting to produce a rip that he can pull apart. In this particular instance, the wear has been progressive rather than instantaneous. It seems to be used since it is used on a regular basis, but it has not completely disintegrated. The fact that the toy is still enjoyable for him and that it still makes him squeal is more important than the fact that it seems to be brand new. I anticipated that it would only be used for a few play sessions before being removed from the rotation, yet it has continued to be used on a consistent basis.

Fun Design, but Not for Aggressive Chewers
This octopus dog toy has a fun design and initially feels heavy-duty. The squeaker and crinkle sounds definitely grabbed my dog’s attention right away, and she was excited to play with it.Unfortunately, despite being marketed for aggressive chewers, it did not hold up well at all. Within about 15 minutes, my dog had already chewed two tentacles off, and by 45 minutes, all the tentacles were gone, and a hole had been chewed through the center of the body.While I appreciate that it’s stuffing-free (which at least avoided a big mess), this toy simply isn’t durable enough for strong or determined chewers. It may work better for light chewers or supervised play, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend it for dogs that truly chew aggressively.Cute idea, but the durability doesn’t match the description.
