I already had an 18′ lead that was similar, but I wanted a longer lead. I bought this one because it was 30′. this one is great! not only for the length, but it can handle very strong pulls, and shortens and lengthens automatically, with an easy flip-lock mechanism. it works perfectly! excellent value for the price.i wrote the above this morning. i still like this for walking the dog, but when i attached it to an steel rod anchor, and the gas man showed up to change a part on the meter, she went after him and snapped the lead! i will have to find a much stronger lead, probably a chain, to anchor her in the lawn while i am sitting outside. this is nice for walking the dog, but… not as strong as i would have liked.

I have a 47-pound Catahoula Leopard dog with a prey drive that is off the charts. I don’t let anyone walk her for this reason. If she sees a cat, raccoon, skunk, rabbit, or squirrel, then it’s a full bolt dash to get to it. She has already broken two retractable leashes, and I was set in the fact that only a regular leash would work. I wish I had listened to myself on that point. When her prey drive kicks in, no command will get her to stop; only the sharp jolt of the leash will stop her movement, and then it’s a tug-of-war fight until the animal is out of view. Then I happened to come across this leash. I did my research and saw the company has several different leashes, all with very high reviews and very few 1-2 star reviews. This leash was reviewed by Vine members, and I respect Vine members’ reviews as they will be honest. I know their review isn’t from a promise of a gift or money back offered by a card in the package. After reading the reviews and seeing the other item reviews made by this company, I thought $25 is worth it if it really works. Well, it didn’t. The first night walking her, she saw a cat, and the tug-of-war was on. This leash held, and I was happy. Then on the third night, she saw something. I didn’t see it, but she did. She got to the end of the lead and something broke. The rope was free, and she was running full steam at whatever it was. Then, on the next block over, all I hear is the brakes locking up on someone’s vehicle. I’m surprised they locked with all the ABS systems nowadays. When I finally get to my dog, she is lying in someone’s yard, panting very fast. I touched her backside and she whimpered. God, now I’m crying just writing this, 45-year-old male, and I’m crying like a baby. I carried her home and started calling around for a 24-hour vet since this was just after midnight. I live in a small community of 8k people, and the biggest city near us is just over an hour away on the highway, which is 70mph. The only one I can find only accepts payment in full before they will do anything. They wanted $250 to see her and $100 for the X-rays. So, I have to wait until the following day to get her in locally. They did X-rays, and thankfully, she didn’t have anything broken or any internal bleeding. She does have a minor fracture on her left hip. She is expected to be okay, but she got very lucky, and I could have lost my dog because I trusted the reviews of other people. I may have received a defective leash, I don’t know. I didn’t try taking it apart to see what broke or what was wrong. I can say the rope doesn’t look broken. It doesn’t matter; I won’t be using it again, even if I could fix it. I don’t know what the force of a 47-pound dog running at full pace is, but it was enough to break this leash unless it was defective. All I know is I just about lost my companion of 8 years, and I’m out $130 for a vet visit and X-rays, along with a long night of no sleep and nerves shot. She is currently healing and will be for the next few weeks. I lost my wife of 16 years, and my dog is all I have left. I will never trust another retractable leash with her again. The fact I’m still crying tells me I have PTSD over this event. So, I will likely talk to someone, which means more money out of pocket. Do yourself a favor and save yourself from the pain both of us are going through. If you have a prey instensive dog that will not listen to commands during their prey drive only use a regular leash with them. Giving them a little extra freedom isn’t worth losing your companion or having them injured.

Works great. I was nervous at first because the cable/cord seemed thin but it really works well with my two pups. I have one pup that is 110lb and it holds up well.

Great Product and Excellent Customer Support
After my 55lb Yellow Lad broke the retractable leash I had been using for years on all my dogs, I bought the Fida Upgraded Retractable 30 ft Leash based on it being heavy duty for up to 110lb dogs. My dog has a strong prey drive, but this leash stopped him without a problem for the almost two months I had it. The retractability is consistent, even after his frequent swims. One time I let go of the handle when he chased a squirrel (he had pulled me off my feet several times before); the handle caught on a tree and the line snapped at full extension. I messaged Fida Pet on how to take the handle apart to try to fix it (I fixed one once before) because I would not expect any cord to stop him at full speed without gradual slow down. They said they would replace the ” defective” item even though I said I didn’t think it was defective. Since Aazon’s return policy date had expired, I bought a new one which they refunded immediately.
