This toy is fabulous for a smart dog despite the chewing damage. A true gem !
I bought this toy for my Polish sheepdog, Wilby, in 2020 and he loved it. Some of the soft rubber was chewed exactly as another purchaser’s photo. Nevertheless it outlasted Wilby who died at 14 years 6 months but it always was his favorite self feeding toy.My new 6 month old Tibetan Terrier has inherited it and continues the family tradition of nibbling and self feeding. Despite its durability, I am fearful that it may not last another 15 years. I knew it was an Amazon product but no name was on the toy.Fortunately, Amazon kept a record of my purchase ! The color now is different but the toy is exactly the same . Any medium size intelligent dog will appreciate its versatility and durability as will a Smart Owner who takes a chance and purchases it !

A puzzle for humans and dogs
I really like this brand of puzzles (I have 3 of them) especially since I know how good puzzles are for your dog’s brain. With this particular puzzle design, I was annoyed at first how hard it was to put treats in it, but now that we have figured out a few tricks for that (see below), this one is really fun for my dogs because it is the most challenging one.Trick 1: Turn the pegs upside down and set them in the base so the open part is face up and fill the open hole with treats. Give to your dog with the open part exposed. This is extra hard because they have to pull out the peg and knock it around to get the treat out.Trick 2: Use cardboard or something rigid to flip the whole setup puzzle upside down so you can remove the base with the pegs in position, fill them with treats, then put the base back on top of the pegs and use the cardboard to flip the whole thing back right side up.1. Set the pegs up in the base as intended.2. Put a piece of cardboard on top of the pegs fully covering the top.3. Hold the cardboard tightly to the top and tightly hold the base pinning the pegs between the two.4. Flip it all over and set it on a counter cardboard on the bottom, pegs in the middle, base on top.5. Remove the base gently as to not change the position of the pegs.6. Fill the pegs with treats.7. Put the base back on top with the pegs settled in their holes.8. Flip it back right side up using the cardboard and the base like you did before.9. Voila. Give to your dog!

Great slow feeder!
Great and fun product. Not for strong dogs because they can flip it over easily. Put the bowl in a corner to avoid your dog flipping it over.

Does not work. Makes a mess.
I am unhappy that the reviews are not for each specific dog toy. They bundled all the Outward Hound reviews together, which is misleading. My review is for 2 toys, because Amazon doesn’t recognize these as separate products.DOG SPIN ‘N EAT Half of the food comes out behind the dish, and the rest just kind of drops out right under the barrel. It is either not slanted enough or not slippery enough for the food to slide to the bottom. My dog just stuck his tongue under the barrel to get the food, it was a mess.PAW ‘N PLAY same issue, the food just falls to the floor right next to the toy so the dog has to lick under the toy. Also the part to push on keeps popping out of place. You have to have a big dog for this toy and he has to really stomp on the paddle. Seems like it was made for humans. Both of these toys are excellent concepts, but don’t work well. I am disappointed in Outward Hound. I have many of their other products and they are great. (not interactive toys).I am sending them back immediately. It doesn’t seem like they were tested to see how well they worked with real dogs.

Not a Great Dane Toy
Not as durable as indicated in descriptions (Rufus and product info). My 110lb Great Dane put a hole in the top with his tooth in less than 5 minutes. I was able to rip it away to prevent him from chomping down but I had to keep doing that so he didn’t chomp it into pieces. Definitely not a toy that can be filled and placed for mental stimulation if you leave the house.

Great for smart active young dogs.
I got this for a 7 month old puppy I was fostering, 50 pounds, mixed breed and it was perfect! He just flipped the slow feeders, but needed one, he ate too fast and got the hick-ups. This was the best solution. Food crumbs get under the bottom, but it’s easy to clean. My only concern is that a stronger dog could probably break the clear plastic lid part? And it gets scratched by their nails ( this puppy had short nails and it still scratched it), so eventually it will be cloudy, but I am not sure the dog cares about a crystal clear view of the food inside!I would buy it again. The dog was VERY clever and this was a fun way to feed him. He solved other complex outward hound games, this was just for a fun, slow feeding time. Its quiet, and a good value for the money.
