No chemical smell. Insert the pine poles into the canvas pockets. Attach the black plastic bottom bumpers. Tie the pine poles together with rope. Tie back the curtains. Inset the cushion. Super cute and easy to assemble. I have three cats and they all love it. I did not iron or steam the fabric and after a few days all the wrinkles were gone. This is good quality and less expensive than some other options out there.

Easy to set up and fits into any space/design with the crisp white color. The material itself feels sturdy, but stains are hard to get out. My cat likes it for another hideout space. I do wish the cushion was fleece lined for extra comfort, but you can easily add a fleece blanket on top if needed. I loved the cute sign it came with but wish it came with a piece of chalk or chalk marker to actually write something on it… not everyone has those lying around.
