Does the powder require refrigeration?
Yes, but not immediately after opening. KMR powder can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 months after opening and then must be refrigerated. (KMR powder can be used up to 1 additional month after refrigeration.)
How much do I feed my kitten?
We suggest feeding a kitten 2 tablespoons of liquid or reconstituted powder milk replacer per 4 ounces of body weight in a 24 hour period. For instance, a kitten weighing 8 ounces should receive 4 tablespoons of formula within 24 hours.
Can KMR be fed to a puppy or Esbilac to a kitten?
No, each of our PetAg formulas are designed for the specific nutritional needs of the species (ie, dog or cat) and they are not interchangeable.
Why are the fat and protein levels in Esbilac/KMR liquid different than in the powders?
The fat and protein levels on powdered milk replacers are higher because they reflect the nutrients of the undiluted powder. After adding 2 parts water, the fat and protein content will match that of the liquid milk replacer.
The formula looks clumpy or smells like spoiled milk, is it safe for use?
No. Milk Replacers are perishable products. If a formula appears to be spoiled in any way, it should NEVER be fed to an animal.

KITTEN WEANING FOOD – KMR 2nd Step is formulated to follow KMR, Goat’s Milk KMR, or mother’s milk, and gently introduces nursing kittens to solid food. Best for kittens that are up on their feet and lapping from a bowl (4-5 weeks old).
BOOSTS BRAIN DEVELOPMENT – With vitamins, minerals, trace nutrients, and DHA, our formula meets the nutritional needs of young kittens and supports visual & cognitive development.
EASY TO DIGEST – Our powder is made with natural milk protein, so it’s highly digestible. Once mixed, it should be lapped from a bowl, not fed from a bottle. Use until ready to transition to solid food (7-8 weeks old).
EASY-TO-MIX FORMULA – Whisk or shake 1 part powdered KMR 2nd Step into 2 parts warm water (a part may be a teaspoon, tablespoon, or cup). Do not mix more KMR 2nd Step than can be consumed in 24 hours. Do not use a blender to mix.
ABOUT US – PetAg is a trusted leader in pet wellness, with science-backed formulas in our milk replacers, health supplements, and grooming products helping pet owners to proactively enhance the lives of their pets, for more healthy years together.

Randy –
Great supplement for the kitten that won’t nurse.
This stuff is great for the kitty that won’t nurse.

Good for kittens
I got a baby kitten and I didn’t know that you’re supposed to switch their food gradually and she got sickly skinny so I got this so I help her put on some weight and it was very helpful. Definitely take note how you do it because I misunderstood the directions at first and I think I put too much of the formula to the water. It’s a little expensive, but it comes with two huge cans so I guess that’s good for the money. The kittens enjoyed it and they put on weight.

Great product
Excellent product. Comes with a scoop. Easy open. Great for adding calories and protein to the Runt of the kittens. Needing extra nutrition for your little rescue kittens, great choice. No diarrhea.
Janice Service –

Great for sick cats and kittens
Shipped quickly and well packed. Very worth the money. I use a fair amount of this to feed sick cats that I have rescued that need to get a lot of calories quickly. Overall excellent!
Stacia Howard –
Too expensive, but very effective.
So very pricey that it makes me want to cry, but I was dealing with a kitten in a failure-to-thrive situation who, despite being four months old, was less than a pound, and refusing to eat any food other than pure formula. I tried everything, all of the usual weaning foods, but she just refused. So I ordered this, out of desperation, to give her more protein, and it worked. She devoured this, and within a week, she crept over to the other food dish, and sampled some pate. She is now currently eating both things, and I’ll stick with both for a moment, until her digestion adequately can handle a heartier diet alone. My theory is that this formula was more filling, thus helping grow her appetite, leading her to seek out something more substantial on her own. I’m so relieved that I’m giving this 5 stars despite the fact that the price seems a little predatory (I admittedly know nothing about the cost it takes to produce or ship this item, so idk). I am just so grateful that it worked.
