10/10 SO convenient & Cat loves it
Wanted to wait until it had been a while before reviewing, (kind of a long one but they’re in depth answers to questions I had when I was looking into this purchase) we’ve had this now for about 4+ months. Cat took to this right away/loves this and so do we, every Tuesday trash day it’s so convenient to just take the bag out with the cans to the curb and replace it especially for my significant other too. We messed around with the settings for about the first week or two to see what worked best for our cat before figuring out what she liked, found that giving it 3-5 mins before cycling helped wait out her curiosity so she would move on and not trigger the sensor again trying to watch the cleaning or “spin cycle”. If you have the space, as it’s kind of a spaceship so check your measurements plus some surrounding space (also make sure you have an outlet or a nice extension cord as well as we found the provided cable a bit too short for our laundry room), but I think it’s definitely worth it. There’s no scooping and also not really any smell besides the N30/N60 diffusers but I can only speak as a single cat house that empty’s the trash weekly. If you don’t like the provided diffusers smell as some have mentioned (it’s like that in order to mask the poop) you could definitely get one of those plug ins or bathroom timer spray diffusers instead, but for us nothing from the litterbox travels farther than maybe a yard away max. We also have a contingency wall plug in right outside of the laundry room, where the litterbox is, in case guests walk by and our cat just happened to use the restroom at the same time as that can be a bit unavoidable. Our dog had a habit of getting into our old automatic litterbox as a form of acting out which is a big reason for us getting this and it’s completely fixed that issue for obvious reasons. If we had 2 cats I think only emptying the trash weekly would still not be an issue with smell or fill concerns depending on your cats bathroom use, we just like to keep on top of it. We bought the bags (and diffusers) in bulk and keep them in the laundry room cupboard but we’re still working through the first roll of bags, I don’t mind spending the money on them and this spaceship as it’s SAVED US IMMENSE MONEY on litter. The cost has and will continue to come back to us tenfold in savings, and our neat freak cat loves the cleanliness.Note: I have a spayed female cat with IBS so the waste fills up a bit quicker but no other bathroom concerns so overall I haven’t run into any issues with the machine, we have also never owned any litter robots so I can’t speak to their owner experience. I personally however HATED the automatic rake style litterbox.Cons: The only con is the double press OK button for maintenance, it’s kind of annoying the wait and to figure it out at first but I also understand it’s there as a safety feature for my cat and I’m honestly just kind of impatient so take that with a grain of salt.Camera?: (I work at a vet) I do agree that the camera is important for monitoring any future health concerns and if you’re probably going to be spending this kind of money already it’s best to just do it now so that you don’t have to in the future. Also the weight tracking is maybe even more beneficial to monitor loss/gain as that can be a HUGE early indicator of health concerns especially in cats as they typically don’t show pain/symptoms.

Amazingly useful and hygienic litter box
UPDATE (5 months later):I added a star, bumping this up to 5 stars. After months using both the Litter Robot 4 and the Petkit Purobot Max for my 2 cats, I love the Petkit so much I ordered a second one to replace the Litter Robot.Below are some of the reasons:- Petkit stays cleaner than litter robot. The materials are less sticky, and there are fewer seals and strips that need replacing. Petkit takes significantly less effort overall, even though there are ways it could be better (eg empty / replace the litter faster).- Petkit smells better compared to Litter Robot. Neither is perfect, but Petkit just doesn’t retain as much scent in the liner or let as much odor through from the trash bag.- Camera is super useful for 2 cats. Tracking is easier and the app is better.- Petkit softwzre and sensors are less annoying than Litter Robot. Litter Robot gets interrupted by dust a lot more often. It sends too many useless notifications and needs more time to get through a cycle.- (HUGE) Petkit is compatible with tofu litters. I hate clay litter but saw it as a necessary evil. Litter robot only works with granular litter, but Petkit has a different sifter that will work with odd shaped tofu litter. It’s cleaner, more sustainable, does not have ANY dust/tracking, and is significantly lighter.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Really awesome robot litter box. I already have a Litter Robot 4 and needed to add another litter box for our new cat. The Petkit definitely is my preference of the two devices because of the camera monitoring, more easily replaceable liners, and scent management. It’s really convenient to be able to monitor my cat remotely. I can make sure the cats aren’t being territorial of the litter box also watch for health indicators (eg kitten eating clumping litter, diarrhea, …). The Petkit app is a little less polished and cohesive looking than the Whisker app, but Petkit is more reliable, full featured, and useful. The Whisker notifications are a little spammy, like “litter robot interrupted”, or “cleaning complete”. The Petkit sends a useful summary like “Thomas used the litter box for 2 minutes, weight 11.1lb”. It just gives me a bit more information that is useful to know and observe any irregularities without tapping into the app. Petkit app is also a lot faster…. Whisker takes forever to load data and graphs.I hold back a star because the Petkit still has some flaws. The entry is smaller so it is tedious to clean. Also, having to touch the litter sifter every time you clean it is gross… the Litter Robot can empty itself without you having to put a sift guard on and off. The Petkit app also has some UX (eg ads everywhere) and localization quirks (hard to understand settings menus) that make navigating the app a little less intuitive.The Litter Robot 4 is not a perfect device either, so overall the Petkit is my preference of the two! The added technology and features outweigh the quirks. Petkit is dependable and useful, a highly automated litter box that controls odors, looks high tech / modern, and meaningfully improves my awareness of my pets health.
