All our whistles are made in our factory in Birmingham, United Kingdom and have been made here since 1870, over 150 years!
How did we get our start?
It started with a young man called Joseph Hudson who trained as a toolmaker for 7 years and learned the skills that made him a superb craftsman in metal. Some of the first whistles to come off the production line were the The Metropolitan police whistle and the Boatswain Whistle.

It works!
We have neighbors with multiple dogs that bark incessantly! We have spoken with them and the police so many times. We’ve been nice. We’ve been mean. It doesn’t matter. This whistle reaches all the way to their house (10 acres away) and it stops the barking every.single.time!

Great whistle, could be louder for long distance work
This is a really nice whistle with good feel. The rubber coating makes it comfortable to use. I gave 4/5 stars just because it could be louder. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still loud enough but could be a little louder.

Quality is worth the money
I tried some cheaper no-name whistles before trying this. There’s no comparison. This is a high quality whistle and worth the extra cost.There’s a bit of a learning curve to get the tone right, but my collie responds to this when he’s outside and I’m inside with the windows and doors closed as long as he’s within 30 feet or so. He can hear it when I’m standing in the open doorway across our 3 acres.

Stick with the older version
Save your money. There is nothing “improved” about this whistle. This one does not project nearly as well as the older plain plastic version. It looks cooler, but performance suffers noticeably with new design.

Suits my needs.
We live in a remote area, and our dog is free-range. We keep a Fi gps collar on him, which notifies us if he has roamed outside our approximately 5 acre “safe zone”. He has a great recall, but sometimes it’s difficult for him to hear us calling if he is too far out in the woods. This whistle seems to be just what he needed to be able to hear us from a further distance. I bought two of them, and hung them on lanyards beside the doors, so they are easy to find.

I don’t recommend this kind of test but I lost my dog after a deer today. He normally has a great recall and has been trained to the whistle but I guess a deer in rutting season is enough to overwhelm anyone’s training. I could see on his GPS (also a good investment) that he was 3 fields and some woodland away by the time the chase ended (he is a small dog with delusions of grandeur so I guess they had quite easily outrun him) so I thought he might finally be capable of hearing me so I blew his whistle and immediately the blip started moving towards me. I kept whistling and sure enough he popped up. I was impressed with the whistle’s performance, less so with my idiot dog’s who has had all off lead privilege revoked until at least the end of rutting season. But it was a useful test of both the limits of his training and the whistle’s carrying ability, which is great.
