It was among the best products we tried.
I was going out for Thanksgiving, but I couldn’t find anyone to help clean the litter box, which was a real headache. Then last Wednesday I ordered this smart litter box, and after using it for a few days, I really want to highly recommend it! It perfectly takes care of my three cats. It not only has a monitoring function, but it can also weigh them and distinguish which cat is which. When I first received it, I was truly amazed! The packaging was incredibly thoughtful; just unpacking it made me feel it was worth the price, and the color scheme is so high-tech.The litter box has a large capacity; even my largest cat has plenty of room, and it actually loves its new litter box! It’s usually very picky about litter boxes, and before, it would get so angry about not cleaning the litter box on time or the smell that it peed on the sofa several times. This litter box is amazing; it even has a deodorizing function… This litter box automatically records each cat’s littering habits. Because of this, I noticed that my third kitten seemed to have constipation—the records showed it was urinating much less frequently. Thankfully, we discovered it early, allowing me to administer medication and get it checked promptly, helping it recover quickly.This app is excellent; it alerts me to the presence of cats nearby and when they’re using the litter box. Most importantly, it ensures the cat’s safety. I’m actually quite afraid to use this machine; I used a smart product before, but it got my cat stuck inside. I don’t know what would have happened if I hadn’t noticed in time. But this machine puts my mind at ease. I noticed it stops working if a cat is nearby! This is crucial. And it ensures no cats approach when scooping the litter box.I’m truly grateful for this litter box; it allowed me to notice these seemingly insignificant but important health details early on and address them promptly.

Hana and I are absolutely loving it! Setup was super easy and took me maybe 10 minutes. I poured in my cat’s used litter the first time for she to get to know it and she started using it within an hour!I was a little hesitant about the automatic cleaning function at first but it turns out this litter box is actually very sensitive to any cat activity around it. It stops cleaning immediately if the cat comes close and starts again once she walks away, so there is really no risk so I just turned on the automated cleaning now and I never have to scoop it anymore!! There is literally zero smell even though it does not have a cover. I keep it in my living room and the smell is even less than when I used to scoop every two days. It also has an air filter that works really well, and it turns on automatically for each cleaning cycle. The app gives reminders for replacing the filter and emptying the waste drawer, which is super helpful to keep track of things. My favorite function so far is the empty all lol cleaning traditional litter box needs such a lift but for this one it’s just a clickIt even has a camera that I dont feel like I need a separate pet cam anymore. It sends notifications every time Hana visits, and now I actually have a better sense of her health and habits. I saw there is also a premium ai health detector feature that am gonna try that too.Hana is a 10 pound ragdoll, and this litter box is super spacious for her. She goes in and out easily, unlike with our old litter box she struggles to squeeze in. Im just regretting to not buying it earlier!!!

So many design oversights
I can’t believe a company invested so much money into designing a product only to end up with this. Where do I even start?Replaceable mat liner. Surprise, surprise: “Lasts up to 3 months… Replace it sooner if you notice waste sticking.” They sell this disposable liner for $29.99 + tax. That means I’d have to pay $119.96 + tax annually just for this liner. This is either malicious design, bad design, or both!The liner is marketed as anti-stick, but one of my cats doesn’t sit to urinate—she aims at the walls. Look at the picture and see for yourself how that turns out. The “super duper” anti-stick coating doesn’t work, even when brand new.Shallow waste container. After running this machine for a day and a half, I got a notification from the app saying the waste container was full. It seems like no one tested this before manufacturing and releasing it, because if they had, they’d know that litter waste piles up like a pyramid in the container. It doesn’t matter that the container is wide—a small pyramid of waste will trigger the “full” sensors after just a day and a half with two cats. It’s laughable.I found more issues, but I’m tired of writing at this point. I’m returning this.

Lots of fantastic features on this machine (camera, air purifier, waste bin sliding door). It’s also aesthetically one of the nicest looking litter machines on the market. However, like all the others, it’s not purrfect.Things I love that some other machines don’t have:- The air purifying system and waste bin sliding door are excellent features and they work. There is literally no odor.- I love the easily removable litter filter as this is something I take off frequently to clean. I hate how other machines like the Litter Robot’s filter is not removable and you can’t clean behind it!- The whole litter basket can be removed for cleaning underneath. This seems like the only machine where you can easily access and clean everywhere that waste touches. I’ve owned many of these machines and they start to smell over time because there are always areas you can’t fully get to to clean.Things I don’t love:- The inside color is dark and you can see the litter’s dust. It looks messy almost right away. The inside should really be a white or off white color.- The litter pad/liner is FABRIC. I don’t understand why companies do this. Fabric is not waterproof ever and this ALWAYS results in leakage over time as the water resistant coating wears off. Changing the liner every 3 months feels like overkill and is NOT environmentally friendly or sustainable. A silicone litter pad that’s easy to clean, disinfect, and does not leak would be a much better option.- The litter pad/liner area is not very big/wide/deep. You can only fit 6 lbs of litter in there. For my other manual litter boxes, I fill them with 18 lbs of litter. Not expecting a machine to house 18 lbs of litter, but 6 does seem to be too little.- The waste bin is very wide but shallow. This won’t work well because waste likes to drop on TOP of other waste, not beside it. So the waste will pile up and the bin will be considered “full” when it’s really not. I also predict the piled up waste will get in the way of the sliding door closing at some point.Things that need to be addressed ASAP:- Major design flaw that can cause serious injury: the crack between the bottom of the basket and the machine has a gap and as the basket is rotating back into position, a cat could very easily stick their paws inside the gap and have it crushed! I tested it and put my finger in the gap and the machine just kept going. The machine only detects motion from the bottom and so if my cat is sitting there not moving and has his paw in the gap, the basket would continue to rotate and that’s game over for my cat’s paw. This is VERY concerning. Not sure how this can be addressed. I’m thinking of a way to fill the gap somehow.Overall, if it wasn’t for the safety issue, I’d give this machine a 3 or 4 star out of 5. Right now, I have the machine on manual mode. If Petlibro can fix the safety issue and the litter liner issue, I might consider keeping the machine, but if not, I’ll have no choice but to return it.UPDATE:From what I understand, there was a software update and the safety issues I mentioned above have been addressed, so with that, I’m changing my rating from a 2 to 4. I do think this is a great machine, despite not being purrfect. 🙂
